Clean Enough

September 25, 2012

During football season it become nearly impossible for me to have a completely clean house for two reasons, a) I have no help and b) I am not motivated enough to do it by myself. CC seems to forget sometimes that having him at home means I also need some help.

Yes I could clean the whole house myself but I also have a job, have to do all the household errands, plus my social life. What usually happens is that i am good for a few weeks and then I just get mad and have to point that out to him.

It’s frustrating. He doesn’t notice the litter box needs to be cleaned and he has a blind eye to the overflowing garbage can. It makes me a little batty. I ask very little of him in general, but I just wish he could help. Now if I was a stay at home wife it would be different. Dinner would be done every night, house would be exceptionally tidy, and he would be happy as a clam. That just isn’t the case. Occasionally I wish it was. It would be nice to really take some love and ownership of the condo he bought before we were dating. I could stay home and cook and clean, organize til my brain fried and do crafts when I got bored. (We have no kids and aren’t planning on them so that’s not something my days would or will ever include.)

I would get bored being home though. I adore my job. So I have learned that there are certain things I must always have clean otherwise I cannot function. The kitchen has to be clean, as well as the the toilets, despite the hard water stains. I also detest a dirty litter box, so that’s a daily thing.

I have accepted that I will never be a woman whose house looks like a magazine. I will always have DVDs piled next to the Play Station and books sitting on the floor. My baseboards will perpetually be dusty and my house may always look a little cluttered. Sure I could get a housekeeper in here once a month, but I would rather spend the money on date nights. My house looks lived in and loved. Plus, I am sure the record albums appreciate the company of the dust bunnies.
