Men’s Facial with Extractions

October 17, 2012

Typically when I do a facial it’s about 50-70 minutes long. Typically. Yesterday I had a client requesting a facial with extractions(which I always do) who wanted a 2 hour facial. 2 hours is a long time for a facial. With a massage it’s easy, but with a facial it’s more difficult. Knowing that he wanted extractions, I spend the first 30 minutes prepping the skin for the extractions, and thank goodness his extractions took another 30 minutes! He needed it!

Some estheticians hate doing extractions, but if you don’t do then, you are kind of only doing half your job. Take an extra class in how to do them if you have to, but don’t skip them! Properly done extractions can equal repeat clients! I sometimes use an extractor, but I prefer to use my fingers wrapped in cotton. It’s more effective and I feel that I am less likely to damage my clients skin.

I finished off his facial with 3 different masks and lots of massage. He seemed to enjoy it. His skin looked great when he left. I wish more men would see the value in proper skin care. It’s huge. It’s not a “girly” thing either. It’s just another step in self care.

  1. I have to say I don’t really mind the extraction too much but i do find it so awkward to do. Its too frustrating to be trying to get rid of something and it just wont budge, yet I know if it was on MY face I could get it out no worries. I totally need to work on this!
