Massage Time For Me

February 20, 2013

There is something to be said for receiving an excellent massage. I feel that I am blessed to be surrounded by hard working professionals that take a great pride in what they do. Monday morning I redeemed a massage that came to me from doing a facial on a friend’s sister. Mary blew me out of the water with a massage that was fluid, firm yet gentle and even loving. I was in the blissful place between consciousness and sleep, and I could have stayed there all day. I was amazed when I got up from the table to see that she had spent only 70 minutes working on me.

I was so sure that I had been on the table for at least an hour and a half. She really maximizes her time. I always wish that I could massage myself. I have always wanted to know how I stack up against the people that I receive from. I have had some bad massages, I have received some mediocre massages, but for the most part, especially from the people that I have worked with, I get to have moments like this where I am relaxed and pampered and made whole again. I try to receive body work as regularly as possible. I find that when I receive massages such as the one I got on Monday, I can go longer without getting one.

I’ve gone through phases. I have had weekly massages, I have had bi-monthly massages, but usually as long as I get one every 4-6 weeks, I can maintain my sanity and continue to function in my job. I am terrible at getting facials. I have had only three over the last 3 years that I didn’t give to myself. Not to mention that they were all done by the same person. Self care is so important in this industry. I do my own waxing and manicures, but I do go for pedicures about once a month. Its nice to have my spirit renewed so I can continue to give my clients the best of me each and every day. Especially if I can always get massages like Mary’s.
