5 Weeks In, 5 Weeks to Go

October 8, 2013

Yikes. Rough Friday night this past weekend. For the first time ever within our marriage and relationship, CC took his post-game anger out on me. I know he didn’t mean it, and he was very apologetic the next morning. He showed up with flowers, a card and a chi latte for me at work. We had a long talk. This season has been tough, but he’s lost his perspective and he’d like to get it back.

CC takes a lot of things personally, and right now with as many angles that he’s receiving crap from, it’s hard not to be angry. I’m not making excuses for him and his outburst, but he knows that something has to change. He also sees the silver lining in the consistency his JV squad is delivering. The coming years are going to put our school back on the map. They are wiping out opposing teams, and not just any teams, teams we see in league play.

This is the hardest part of being a coach’s wife. People would ask why I put up with it, or why does he continue to fight the battle? He loves what he does, victories can be won off the field too. I love him and I will always support him. I tell him that all the time. As long as he does what he does with pride and integrity, I will always support him. That’s also why he was so apologetic, he knows how important I am to his support system.

After the game M came with J and I out to dinner. She wasn’t pleased with his attitude either. He was being an ass. K even surprised us and met us for dinner. It was nice to have a impromptu girls night out. It was also nice to not have to talk about football and incessantly rehash what we just witnessed on the field.

This week looks promising. The season is now half over. I’m focused on vacation and my brain is already looking to next year. October will be half over before I expect it, then it will be Christmas. Time to start making the budget.
