Beach Day

July 13, 2016

CC  is teaching summer school again this summer, in addition to running summer football and his athletic director duties. They needed someone to teach an 7/8 grades autistic extended school year class. He’s got a week left after this one, then he gets 3 full weeks off before fall football practice starts in August. First game is the last friday in August, school starts the following week. I feel like the summer is trickling through our fingers.

For the first time in a month we were finally able to blow out of town on a Sunday and get to the ocean. Point Reyes is our favorite place to go because it’s quieter than some of the other Bay Area beaches. Muir Beach, Pacifica and Half Moon are all favorites too, but North and South Beaches at Point Reyes are quiet and cozy even. With long stretches of sand, people spread out and you feel like you have the beach to yourself.

We took Margie and Lauren with us and grabbed a picnic lunch. After settling into the sand and catching up over finger foods, we all fell into our respective books and magazines. We all remembered to bring something without discussing it. I love that my friends are readers! After a couple of hours reading on the beach, the wind picked up and we decided to head to Petaluma for window shopping and an early dinner.

It was a perfect day. Beach time and two excellent meals shared with friends. A much needed break from the heat and some time together. I hope CC and I can make this happen a few more times this summer. Once fall football starts, he’s pretty distracted.
