My dad is in the hospital again this week. He’s doing okay, just needed to redo the procedure they did a couple weeks back. They have found cancer spots on some of his lymph nodes. He will begin chemo again in a couple of weeks. It is something that is completely treatable, however, not curable. I’m still digesting this. To an extent, I’m also putting off dealing with how I feel emotionally about it.

Tonight I went by the hospital so my mom didn’t have to come back across town.

Dad’s roommate in the hospital room is super excited because he asked the nurse if they could make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner, and they did. This man is the happiest person on earth right now. They even gave him a glass of milk. I don’t know how long his has been here, but this man is so content. His other roommate is from Nigeria. He and his wife sang a hymnal and then prayed in their language and then again in English. It was beautiful.

I’m trying to wrap my head around all of this. It’s like a reprise of last year. It’s not hard yet, my fear is that the worst is coming. I’m trying to maintain positivity.

Today I am grateful for:

1) small things that bring great joy.

2) the amount of things I can accomplish under a bit of pressure!

3) the future, things to look forward to.
